CLASS 56 PROJECT - OCTOBER 2022 UPDATE

Following the arrival of the first Engineering Prototype samples in July, we have conducted a review of the models and fed back our comments to the factory for minor tooling tweaks and refinements.

Over the past few weeks, it has been our aim to undertake running tests of the samples and as part of the programme we have been undertaking haulage trials.

For those wanting to recreate the days when Class 56s ruled the Merry-Go-Round circuits, it was important for us to evaluate our samples and ensure that our models could work such trains in scale form.

Barrow Hill Junction kindly allowed us to undertake some testing of the Class 56 working a prototypical coal train formed of 36 weathered Cavalex HAA wagons, the perfect location for modelling such trains!

As can be seen in the video clip, the model locomotive passed this part of the testing process with flying colours.

To say that one member of the Cavalex team was a little excited might be a slight understatement.

Our thanks to Michael Rhodes for helping us with the testing stage of the project.

Michael Rhodes’ Barrow Hill Junction is featured in the latest issue of Hornby Magazine.

We will be posting more video clips of the locomotive in action over the next week.
