MODEL WORLD LIVE

We had a very enjoyable weekend at Model World Live, our thanks to the Key Model World team for organising the event.

On Saturday 27th of April, Pete Waterman’s Railnuts team set a Guinness World Record with their Making Tracks 4 layout – ‘The Final Frontier’, for the Largest portable model railway.

The record was for the worlds Largest Portable Model Railway and had to meet stringent criteria set by Guinness including being measured to within 0.001m, being a single scale model, prove that it is portable, be built to a professional standard as well including details of the number of trains, loops, track length, locomotive movements and all measured tracks being used.

One of the criteria was for all the usable track to be measured for which a special Sonic Track Measurement wagon was created.

The official track length came in at 694.9m / 2279ft.

Our congratulations to the Railnuts team for their achievement.

It was great to have some of our models, including our latest Class 60 samples, running on the 208 foot long layout.

Some Class 56 prototype inspiration from the past few weeks courtesy of Dave McAlone. We loved seeing images of 56098 and 56049 working together, which were looking forward to seeing recreated in 4mm with the imminent arrival of our Class 56s.
